Scented Candle Journal – How to get the most out of your Kamseen scented candle

A good scented candle should last a long time, burn evenly, and fill the room with scent from the first to the last lighting. Here are our best tips for getting the most out of your scented candles.

Trim the wick before lighting

Trim the wick to about 5 mm before each time you light the candle. A wick that is too long will produce more soot, an uneven flame, and a shorter burn time.

Let the candle burn long enough the first time

The first time you light a new scented candle, you should let it burn until the entire surface has melted, preferably 2–3 hours. This prevents "tunneling" – where the candle creates a deep channel down the middle and leaves wax untouched along the edges for the rest of its life.

Avoid drafts

Place the candle away from open windows, fans, and drafts. Drafts cause the flame to flicker, which leads to more soot and the scent dissipating more quickly.

Burn in appropriate sessions

For the longest possible lifespan and most even burn, we recommend letting the candle burn for 3–4 hours at a time, no longer. Let the wax completely solidify before lighting it again.

Storage

Store your scented candles in a cool, dark place, preferably in their original packaging, to preserve the scent for as long as possible before use.

When should you stop using the candle?

For safety reasons, we recommend extinguishing the candle when there is approximately 1 cm of wax left at the bottom of the glass. This prevents the glass from becoming too hot.

Safety first

Never leave a burning candle unattended, keep it away from flammable materials, and place it on a heat-resistant surface.
