What are "Notes" in Light?

A "Note" is the name of each individual smell that makes up the fragrance oil. Notes have three categories or "layers" within them: top notes, middle notes and base notes.

The top notes or head notes are the first scents you can smell, as they evaporate the fastest. These are usually citrus or fruity and are the first scents that customers will smell in the products.

Middle notes or "heart" notes in a fragrance are what create the "body" of the fragrance. They will generally be floral, fruity or spicy components of the fragrance. This layer will be the foundation of any product you create.

The base notes are the scents that linger the longest. These notes will help create the final and lasting impression of the product. These are typically woody or musky scents and should work in harmony with the heart notes.

If a nose only reacts to strong smells, chances are that it will rarely feel light mild scents, on the other hand, with a sensitive nose, even a light scent may feel strong.
